          Launch of Chefs Autochtones du Canada - McCord Museum, 28 May, 
          2009 
           
          The Montreal 
          launch of the French version of our book took place at the McCord Museum 
          of Canadian History. Among those taking part were Regional Chief of 
          the AFN for Quebec and Labrador, Ghislain Picard, Chief Andrew Delisle 
          of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke, The Honourable Raymond Chrétien, 
          former Canadian ambassador to the United States, and Victoria Dickenson, 
          Executive Director of the McCord Museum. The event was hosted by Jean 
          Chevrier, President and Publisher at New Federation House, Denis Daigneault, 
          Vice-president of New Federation House and Editor of Native Leaders 
          of Canada/Chefs Autochtones du Canada, and Jeanne Poulin and Gerald 
          Gummersell, Directors of New Federation House. Among our guests were 
          Corinne Mount Pleasant-Jetté and Albert Snow of the Mohawk Nation 
          who were advisors to our project, writers Anna De Aguayo, Julie Gedeon, 
          Kathy Horibe, Brian Parsons, and Lisa Peterson, along with our esteemed 
          translator, Franck Hénault. We wish to extend our thanks the 
          Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke, Rio Tinto Alcan, and Jacques Chagnon, 
          Member for Westmount-Saint-Louis and Vice-president of the National 
          Assembly of Quebec, for their sponsorship of the event. 
          Subsequent to the event former prime minister, the Right Honourable 
          Joe Clark, 
          joined the directors and organizers for an informal session at the McCord 
          Musem.
